THE KINGDOM OF GOD

THE PROMISE

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Take therefore no thought for tomorrow: for tomorrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

THE TEACHINGJesus is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. Revelations 19:16

Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls? Luke 12:24
Recently, Gordon purchased a hummingbird feeder and hung it on a shepherd’s rod close to our front porch. It has been very entertaining and educational watching the birds as they feed.
The hummingbird is the smallest of birds. Their wings beat up to eighty times a second and because they can rotate their wings in a circle they...

Philippians 4:13
Who or what shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us.
Romans 8:37

Note from Dorothy

Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow.
For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. James 4:14
Recently, my sixty-seven year old cousin was killed in a car accident. He retired several years ago from a large pharmaceutical company but was working part-time as a driver for an eye specialist. He was on a run when he went through a stop sign and a semi hit him broadside.
Witnesses said, he stopped at the sign but then the vehic...

STRESS

Paul and Timothy: For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed (burdened) out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life:
But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead. 2nd Corinthians 1:8,9

THE PROMISE Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver, in whom we trust that He will yet deliver us.

And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer and while they are yet speaking, I will hear. Isaiah 65:24
I am quoting this same passage of scripture as last month because I am reminded, again, how the Lord takes care of our families.
We had just gotten on 465, the interstate that circles the city of Indianapolis, when I received a call on my cell phone from our grandson.
He was stranded on the highway just about a mile from where we were, another few seconds and we would hav...

DISCIPLESHIP
A disciple is someone who submits himself to the discipline (or teaching) of someone else.
A disciple of the Lord Jesus is someone who submits themselves to Him (Jesus) and is willing to follow His instructions.
One trait of a disciple according to Jesus is "love."  John 13 : 34,35

THE PROMISE
A new commandment I give unto you, That you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one anot...

And it shall come to pass,  that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.  Isaiah 65:24

The last of May we made our maiden voyage in our new travel trailer. It rained three of the four days that we camped. The positive side to that fact is we discovered our traveling home doesn't leak! Another positive....the falling rain brought back memories of my childhood and our house that had a tin roof; such a calming sound that puts a body right to sleep.

A Word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver. Proverbs 25:11

FORGIVENESS
There are three kinds of forgiveness that are necessary.
1. Forgiveness from God, needed for salvation, which is everlasting life.
2. Our forgiveness of others who have wronged us, so we can be free from the control of the enemy, who wants us to be controlled by bitterness.
3. Forgiveness of ourselves, for the past, let it go and rejoice in Jesus.
Jesus paid the full price for all our sins at Calvary. Pr...

Proverbs 31:10-31

This passage is often used, for a Mother's Day message. The twenty-two verses were written in the form of an acrostic in the original Hebrew language-,each verse begins with a letter of the Hebrew alphabet in its proper order. These verses are a tribute to the virtuous women, praising her deeds and character.

I am using the acrostic, WOMEN, to list five characteristics of the virtuous woman I feel all ladies could use as a pattern for their lives.

He that goeth forth and weeping, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.  Psalm 126:6

March 20th, the first day of Spring, Gordon and I celebrated our fifty-first wedding anniversary. This season (Spring) is special to me for that reason and I am always in awe of the new life popping up everywhere in the form of flowers, budding trees and green grass. A glorious sight after record breaking snowfalls for the Midwest in February.

And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment

Hebrews 9:2

In the KJV, "and he died," in some form is written seventy-six times. Last month a former, well known, military leader died. His passing was well publicized and his accomplishments in this life were many. His eulogy reminded me of the obituary of an acquaintance who died several years ago. His obituary covered almost a full page in the newspaper. He, too, accomplished much in his life time, some of which we...

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
Jeremiah 29:11

This past week our niece lost a baby prematurely.  The realization we will not have the privilege of knowing that baby girl is painful but we are comforted in the knowledge that she is in the Father's house .
As the minister blessed us with a message at the grave side service on a bitter, cold winter day and we saw the tiny casket lowered into...

As I reflect back on the past year, I praise the Lord He cares for us and His eyes are upon this land!
May you have a blessed and prosperous New Year.

And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS:  for he shall save his people from their sins.
Matthew 1:21

Christmas is such a special time of the year.  I love all the festivities with the gifts, lights and tinsel, and I especially enjoy all the food!  But, foremost, I am thankful it is our Savior's birthday.  Praise the Lord he came as a babe, grew into a man, and gave His life to pay a debt he didn't owe to redeem mankind from a debt they couldn't pay.  That is the ulti...
