The Spirit of Truth
December 7, 2010
John 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
The Spirit of Truth (which is the Comforter) imbues men with the knowledge of truth. The Spirit of Truth causes an atmosphere of distrust inside a person because it is in opposition to our old nature. It wars against everything that we thought to be truth. As it permeates through out our entire being it causes us to be riddled with doubt and touches us in the deepest core of our pride. Unless the Spirit of Truth can enter these core areas of our soul we will stay in a state of confusion and be held captive by indifference to God. The Holy Spirit is a gentleman and will not penetrate our imprisonments like a piercing bullet through our lives causing us to die to our old selves. Instead it is more like a steeping process that is a continual wearing away of our pride, we finally feel safe enough to give in and know the Truth and at that point the Truth can set us free. One of the constants in a believers life is that the Comforter aka the Spirit of Truth will never leave us and will always come along side us. God's truth hurts our old nature when it is presented but the outcome is always sweet when we are delivered.
John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
