Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
Jesus was revealing His ministry that was written about in the book of Isaiah ch 61. It says that He came to preach deliverance to the captives. The word deliverance in this context means forgiveness. It has a slightly different meaning when it is in this context. It would then read something like this. Jesus came to preach forgiveness to those who are held captive by unforgiveness.
Without any further investigation of this statement one would think that Jesus was talking about demons or something like that, but in fact unforgivness is a trick or a snare of the devil to keep people in captivity. So if the devil can keep believers thinking that Jesus was talking about demons they will continue to be captive.
