When you affirm something, it will become true in your life whether it is true or not. If you believe a lie about yourself, someone else, or God, it will find lodging in you and will grow until you are fully convinced it is so. A lie is equally as strong as Truth if believed.

It is most important to the Christian that they affirm the Truth of the Word of God in opposition to opinion, feelings, and other influences based on their five senses.

Both faith and unbelief are built on affirmations.

-The affirmation of doubt builds unbelief.

-The affirmation of faith builds strength to believe more.

Remember, there are two kinds of affirmations:

1-There is the affirmation with nothing behind it but my own will to make it good.

It is based upon a philosophy born of Sense Knowledge. The Sense Knowledge is a product of my own mind. If it be in regard to sin, I deny the existence of it. If it be in regard to sickness, I deny that sickness has any place in my experience. If it is a problem of meeting a financial obligation, I affirm with all my might that I have the ability to meet it.

All that I have to make this affirmation good is something that I am or have of myself. I can do it alone. The Word of God has no place in this affirmation.

2-The affirmation based upon the Word of God.

There is a vast difference between an affirmation based upon your own will or philosophy and an affirmation backed up by God Himself. The affirmation based upon the living Word has God backing it to make it good.

“Claiming the promises” is not faith. Faith already has it. “Claiming” proves that one does not have it yet. It is unbelief attempting to act like faith.
