What comes out of your mouth is what is in your heart

"A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringesth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh." Luke 6:45

I was with my wife at a store during peak shopping hours and a family with three children was in the aisle just in front of us. The children were small and as children will do, they were exploring their environment. Yes, they were picking up everything they could get their hands on. Rather than taking control as parents should do, they lost control………of themselves. The things said to the kids should not be said to an adult, let alone to small children. I watched as their little souls were crushed by the strength of the words and name calling hurled at them by the very people who supposedly loved them.  The damage caused by those thoughtless words may be felt by them for the rest of their lives.

Children generally hit the mark their parents set for them and that mark is set by what is said to them and about them. Fill your heart with the Word of God and it will flow out from the edge of your life, (your mouth). What we say should refresh a thirsty soul in a dry land, especially if they are your children.

“Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.” Psalm 127:3

Children are in the act of becoming what you say about them.
